Central
Station

Purpose:

Central Station
was Auburn's original Auburn Fire Station, located on 3/4 acre in Auburn Village at the south end of Auburn. It housed the Auburn Fire Department from 1935 until 2002 with up to five apparatus bays. In 1986 a second station was built on Pingree Hill Road in Auburn. The Fire Department moved half of its apparatus to the new station, while Central Station was renovated to accommodate the Auburn Police in addition to the Fire Department. Central Station retired from service in 2002 when the Safety Complex opened as the new home of Auburn's Fire and Police Departments.

Central Station featured a bay area and office on the first floor, with public meeting room and kitchen on the second floor. The Fire Department sponsored Sunday Morning Breakfast and the occasional evening of dance on the second floor.
